Namma Bengalooru

Namma Bengalooru

Been 2 days now, I am oddly immune from the perils of the fabled jet lag. But I am not complaining. What I am complaining about is the formerly wonderful city of Bangalore. Thanks to the new age of progress and the quest to save product support dollars, most multinational companies decided to move their customer service to Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms in the formerly wonderful city of Bangalore, causing the BPO boom that is single handedly ruining the entire city. In the name of progress and development, the government is giving huge concessions to these firms to set up shop in the formerly wonderful City of Bangalore resulting in a boom of these modestly paying relatively low skilled jobs to hundreds of thousands of "english speaking" graduates from around the country. This influx of people with their new wealth is placing a burden on a city that never quite recovered from the last last high tech boom of the Silicon Valley of India. So instead of using its resources on higher value R&D and engineering jobs, the formerly wonderful city of Bangalore is being ripped to shreds by these BPO companies and the resulting massive influx of new age zombie workers (Zombie because they work ridiculuous hours mostly in the night provide customer support for European and American clients). In the end this result in a total breakdown of the system, resulting in a correction that would hopeful provide some reprieve to the residents of this formerly wonderful city of Bangalore...

Meanwhile somewhere in this chaos, I am going to find the formerly wonderful city of Bangalore I once knew. Watch this space to join me on my adventure into the new Bengalooru

- former resident of the formerly wonderful city of Bangalore.
